The Lie of Spin (Micro Story)

The young boy in the net was trying to emulate Warne’s action.

"Hey lad," I hollered.

Naturally, my intrusion surprised him.

"Give the ball a sudden twitch underneath."

Certainly, the ball spun sharply.

"Wow! But sir, you and spin bowling!"

"Why? Can’t a batting coach..?"

The boy lowered his eyes.

"You know, there's another reason," in went a heavy insertion.

"What sir?"

"First, promise it’ll be a secret!"

I then bent down to his ears.

"Anil won't have been a star!"

"Anil Ku..?!?!" The boy couldn't even complete the legendary name.

"Still not believing?" and I delivered a prodigious turn.

Only, I knew I had lied about the spin legend.
